Welcome to “This Week at Grace!”
Dear Grace Community,
Whether this is your first time receiving an email from Grace Van Vorst, or whether you’ve been part of the Grace community for many years, we hope this message will encourage you to become involved and invested in the life of the church.
If you’ve been at church during the past two weeks, you may have met the Rev. Dr. Barrie Bates, who will be spending the next several months with us as we continue our search for a new rector. In addition to being with us and leading us as we worship on Sundays, he will also spend some time each week in the church office, offering care and support to members of our parish. He is experimenting with drop-in office hours: Tuesdays 4-6 and Wednesdays 9-11. For appointments at other times, please contact him directly. Barrie.bates@gracevanvorst.org

Starting this Sunday, we will have a brief children's greeting each Sunday as part of our worship. Children of all ages will be invited to come forward and hear a brief story or lesson, and then return to child care next door or move to Sunday School for ages 5-8 (starting in mid-February). Parents are invited to encourage their children to remain in worship until this greeting, or to go and collect them during the song that follows the Collect of the Day.
We hope to see you this Sunday for our 9:15 and 11:00 services!

Break Bread Together
Break Bread Together is starting up soon! BBT is a ministry in which various members of the community gather to share fellowship and a meal--and is a great opportunity to get to know parishioners that you may not have spent much time with before! If you'd like to participate in this ministry, please email Becca Brasser at beccabrasser@gmail.com with your name and phone number, or speak with Edie Hunt or Becca after the 11:00 service on Sunday. There will also be a sign-up sheet at Coffee Hour. All are welcome to join! The date of the "kickoff dinner" where the groups meet for the first time, will be announced in several weeks.
Coffee Hour Volunteers Needed!
Each Sunday after the 11:00 service, coffee and light snacks are served to encourage fellowship among the members of the community. This vital ministry is always in need of volunteers to help with preparation and cleanup. Please contact Becca Brasser at beccabrasser@gmail.com if you’d like to join a team (a very small commitment: 1 time every 6 weeks!).
Stewardship 2012
We are still accepting pledge forms for 2012. We ask that people bring their filled out Stewardship Form to church Sunday and place it in the offering plate as an offering to the Lord.

Search Committee
The search for our new rector continues. The search committee is currently working to find a new leader for our community. The committee will offer regular updates to the congregation and are looking forward to sharing God's work in this process with everyone. Please keep in mind when checking in with committee members that the members are asked to keep search information confidential.
Childcare at Grace Van Vorst
A few parents have volunteered to stand as alternates to help us offer consistent child care during the 11am service. This will allow families, who depend on this service, to know that someone will always be available to supervise their children during worship. Children's Worship at Grace Van Vorst
As you know, Children's Worship will soon begin again at Grace. The target start date is Sunday, Feburary 18. During the 11:00 church service, the children will be called to the front by the Celebrant, Reverend Barrie, then they will be led into the Parish hall where volunteer parents will lead the children's worship studies.
We are attempting to identify which parents are interested in this ministry. Please email Sophia, mamazeke@gmail.com or Reni James, renijames@mac.com.

Special Events
Be part of what's happening at Grace! Join the Special Events Committee! Whatever your gift, we can use your help and input, from brainstorming and scheduling to setting up tables or bringing baked goods. Our first meeting of the year will be after the 11:00 service on Sunday, February 19. If you can't make it but would like to be involved, please email Amy at amy.elise.dj@gmail.com. Building and Grounds Volunteers
The building and grounds committee is always looking for volunteers to help in maintaining our facilities. If you are interested in supporting this important mission, please contact Tony Moses ( anthony.w.moses@gmail.com )
Go Green and Help Grace
Bring in your used cell phones and ink cartridges. These used/broken/empty goods may be trash to you, but can supply us with subsidiary income to be able to improve and/or expand the various ministries and services at Grace. The deposit box is located just inside the Parish Hall.
Book Sale
Don’t forget to check out our weekly book sale each Sunday after the 11:00 service! Stop by the parish hall to buy used books at a bargain! Proceeds benefit Grace Church Van Vorst.
