Grace Church Van Vorst Rector Search
As we begin the search for a Rector, we will create two committees that will guide and lead us through the process. The first committee is charged with creating the parish profile and the second committee uses the parish profile as a helpful guide as they set out on the search for qualified candidates to present to the Vestry.
Grace Church Van Vorst Parish Profile Committee
This committee is responsible for creating the Grace Church Van Vorst parish profile. The Parish Profile Committee’s mission is to create a document that provides a view of who we are at Grace Church and who we want to be. The parish profile committee will consist of eight members from the congregation and two from the Vestry.
The committee will have a chairperson who functions as the leader and managing editor of the group. The chairperson helps the Profile Committee members stay organized and focused as they gather information and conduct the interviews and surveys needed to provide a thorough picture of Grace Church Van Vorst. The information gathered, and the document created from this process, will help guide the Search Committee as they move forward in the process of finding qualified candidates to be presented to the Vestry for consideration. The committee chair will need to have strong administrative skills and be able to make the considerable time commitment needed to lead the Profile Committee during this process. The chairperson must be a pledging member of Grace for at least one year and cannot be a Vestry member.
The Profile Committee will need to thoroughly analyze the following categories and include a section about each within the parish profile:
- History / Mission
- Demographics of the church and the Jersey City community
- Worship
- Financials
- Buildings and Grounds
- Outreach
- Children and Youth
- Grace Community Services
- Grace Van Vorst Episcopal Housing
- Strengths – Weaknesses – Opportunities - Threats
Grace Church Van Vorst Rector Search Committee

Search committee members need:
Proficiency in interviewing
