Special Updates From Our Property Committee - 08/12/16

Your vestry and building committee are pleased to announce the culmination of several years of work resulting in real projects getting done around our Church. We are particularly joyous that through the PSE&G Clean Energy Program, we were able to replace the Parish Hall lighting, Sanctuary air conditioning and Sanctuary heating with state of the art energy efficient systems. The best part is that PSE&G paid for 70% of the cost of the project, with the remainder added interest-free to our bill over the next three years. With the savings in usage, the overall cost is close to zero for the Church. Our ongoing challenge with the sewer line and the downstairs bathrooms we hope are now solved as the City has replaced a defective section of the main sewer line that the Church connects to. Thanks to Tom, our Office manager, Bret Schundler, and Howard Kook for pushing this with the City to get them to take responsibility for the problem. Two new projects are now under way that will significantly improve conditions around the Church. In the Sanctuary we will be repairing and replacing the tile floors in the front and back of the Church, and refinishing the wood floor, with completion this fall. In the Rectory, we are beginning work to convert the basement into multi-purpose space that can be used for youth programs, toddler drop-off, and adult meeting space. The Rectory project is in final design, and we hope to have it completed this winter. In other areas, Donald Gallagher continues to make good progress on the artistic painting work in the back of the Sanctuary, which is looking great. Please be sure to admire the Church’s garden which has been cultivated and maintained by Anna Augustsson with some help from Donald. We have a remarkably beautiful Church that was built to the glory of God almost 170 years ago. We are honored for our time to make this a place we can love God and our Neighbor. Your Building Committee Jack Pestaner, Bruce Vecchio, Bayla Kallstrom, Laurie Wurm
